Inner Master

'I know who I am'

Inner Master resides in the Domain of Self and the Dimension of Understanding.

Inner Master gives you a positive sense of personal identity and confidence. Its key role is self-regulation. It manifests through the self-awareness of thoughts and feelings and the self-management of response and behaviour.

Who is Inner Master?

It is that part of self that is confident, resilient and aware of personal talents and personal challenges. Inner Master knows, accepts and understands what makes up personal identity, such as personal history, experiences, values, personality, culture, and context. Inner Master is like the database and processor of the self, recording experiences and memories and allowing the emergence of identity and attributes answering the question 'who am I?' Inner Master is self-accepting, full of self-esteem and grounded. Inner Master trusts in the first line of the Serenity Prayer:

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change."

Inner Master accepts these facts about themselves, without recourse to judging, complaining, or boasting about them. Inner Master will, however, recognise areas for improvement and work towards becoming the best version of themselves. Inner Master's leadership role is to maintain peaceful resilience in the self, providing a deep-seated sense of identity and belonging.

What does Inner Master do?

Knowing about Inner Master provides you with a cognizance that you see the world through your own personal frames of reference and that others must also have their frames of reference too. Inner Master allows you to connect to an authentic self that is confident and comfortable in its own skin. From this authentic position, it is possible to embark on self-leadership as a personal journey of deep Understanding, compassion and acceptance. Inner Master collaborates with the other three Inner Domain Characters (see later) in the following ways:

• The Inner Master gives the Inner Advisor the Understanding it needs to advise with a fuller insight.
• The Inner Master gives the Inner Referee insight into the effect of Ethical decisions on other areas of the self.
• The Inner Master gives the Inner Visionary deeper awareness of where you are at the start of the journey. It highlights strengths, challenges, and preferences. This allows the Inner Visionary to check out if the direction is 'right for me' based on fuller information.

Where Inner Master sits in the model

At the heart of the Understanding Dimension is the question: Who or what needs to be known?

The Domain of Self is the inner domain: your attitudes, thoughts, beliefs and feelings. It is where self-leadership begins, and strong roots here allow more stretch in the outer Domains.

The other Characters in the Understanding Dimension are Empath and Oracle. The other Characters in the Domain of Self are Inner Referee, Inner Visionary and Inner Advisor.

The Virtues Inner Master helps you build

Virtues emerge when Characters from different Dimensions combine. Because Inner Master works in the Understanding Dimension, it contributes to three of the six Leadership Virtues:

• Prudent, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Understanding and Ethics.
• Wise, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Understanding and Purpose.
• Social, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Understanding and Communication.
