Inner Advisor resides in the Domain of Self and the Dimension of Communication.

Inner Advisor is the adult inner voice that can provide critical, friendly feedback. When we know our Inner Advisor and listen to it, we can stay present in the reality of our situation. Its key role is selfreflection. Inner Advisor is both the pause button and play button on our inner dialogue. It gives a voice to other Inner Domain Characters and credibility or challenge to the voice of others. Inner Advisor collaborates with the other three Inner Domain Characters in the following ways:

Who is Inner Advisor?

It is the inner voice that knows the power of the pause button and the power of speaking out. It is the way you Communicate with self. A trustworthy friend to turn to at times for advice if we stop and listen. Tuning into the voice of Inner Advisor will reveal its wisdom. It does not hold back unless you mute it yourself. A well-developed Inner Advisor is a critical, honest best friend, telling you what you 'need' to hear or, when not developed properly, a mischievous whisperer, skilled in the art of self-deception, giving you only what you 'want' to hear.

Sometimes our inner Communication can be a noisy affair. Inner Referee is saying, 'don't do that, it's not the right thing'; Inner Master is saying, 'my needs have been overlooked for years and now is the time to take a stand'; Inner Visionary is saying, 'the world isn't ready for this yet.' Compound this with the advent of social media platforms like Instagram, WhatsApp, Twitter (X), Snapchat, and Facebook. These platforms further take socialising away from the need to physically be present with another and 'speak out loud,' and thus, human beings are socialising internally with themselves, overloading with information, much from unreliable sources. Inner Advisor thus needs to have a clear and compelling voice so that you stop and attend to it. You question, it answers, it questions, you answer. You need to listen for its influences, is it relaying the wishes of the Inner Visionary, Inner Referee, Inner Master, or someone else? To hear the wisdom of Inner Advisor, you must remain open to what it raises, it will always speak to you. It is, however, up to you to stop and pay attention. Its leadership role is as the mouthpiece of the other Characters of the Inner Domain.

What does Inner Advisor do?

• The Inner Advisor gives the Inner Master the tools to reflect and further strengthen the Understanding of Self.
• The Inner Advisor gives the Inner Referee the tools and time to reflect upon the correctness of situations it is presented with.
• The Inner Advisor gives the Inner Visionary opportunities to check out direction and reminders to keep going in both good and hard times.

Where Inner Advisor sits in the model

At the heart of the Communication Dimension is the question: What needs to be seen and heard?

The Domain of Self is the inner domain: your attitudes, thoughts, beliefs and feelings. It is where self-leadership begins, and strong roots here allow more stretch in the outer Domains.

The other Characters in the Communication Dimension are Storyteller and Conductor. The other Characters in the Domain of Self are Inner Master, Inner Referee and Inner Visionary.

The Virtues Inner Advisor helps you build

Virtues emerge when Characters from different Dimensions combine. Because Inner Advisor works in the Communication Dimension, it contributes to three of the six Leadership Virtues:

• Social, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Understanding and Communication.
• Just, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Ethics and Communication.
• Courageous, the Practitioner who is a Specialist in Purpose and Communication.
